Introducing Melvin Happening Hour
We’re known for outlandish events that engage our fans and offer memorable experiences. We strive to build personal connections with our fans that go beyond the standard company + customer relationship, and thus our stories spread near and far. Right now it is not possible to have these events in person, and this circumstance may not change for a while. No beer festivals, no tap takeovers, and no liquor store tastings is a real possibility this summer. Therefore, we decided to bring the Madness to our people via the interwebs.
Our goal is to encapsulate the best elements of our events into the Melvin Happening Hour, a weekly digital program featuring beer conversations, story-telling, videos, interviews with special guests and musical performances.

EPISODE II: MELVIN ARTIST, RUMTUM
Episode 2 of the Melvin Happening Hour features our friend, visual artist and electronic musician John Hastings aka RUMTUM. John has been gracing the street walls of Denver with his mural art for years, and first connected with Melvin at our GABF afterparty in 2017. Now he’s created an entire new Melvin world with the experiMENTAL Series beer labels, and he just got signed to an indie music label for his atmospheric tracks. Tune in and watch us chat about art and beer, then enjoy a mini set of beats from RUMTUM.

John Hastings creates artwork under the moniker “RumTum” in visual art and music. Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, John Hastings spent most of his time on the shores of Lake Erie enjoying natural elements and relating to them through drawing. During this time, he developed a close relationship with the balance of human, animal and plant life in this habitat–this spawned a broader love and connection for aquatic nature, marine life, and the vast landscapes they create. The natural geometric patterns in tropical plants and deep sea atmospheres found their way into his work — and the birth of new creatures and whimsical scenes transport you to a playful oasis.
Be on the look out for our latest beer in the Experimental Series, Sampan, being released this summer!
Asian-Style Imperial Pilsner ABV: 8.0%
This round of RUMTUM label art had us dreaming of the brightly colored sampan boats floating in the Pacific harbors of the Far East, and our palates yearning for a rice lager. So we started with an Asian-style Pilsner recipe made with jasmine rice, then added our Melvin brew Kung-Fu, amping it up to 8% ABV and fermenting it with sake yeast. The result is a crisp and bright beer with a fluffy mouthfeel and pleasant minerality that leaves it dangerously drinkable. You’ll be anxious to pull up anchor and sail these seas.
EPISODE I: MELVIN RESIDENT DJ, CUT LA WHUT
This week, we’re talking to our resident DJ and old school homie, Cut la Whut, about growing up in Wyoming, the good ol’ days of Jackson, and what it’s like to rock a Melvin party. Then he will grace your ears with a set of hip-hop jams.
